DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint

Spring is finally, finally really and truly here, WhyNotters! To celebrate, here is a very springy, nigh on summery Wactivity to decorate your doorsteps and delight your inner DIY-er.

What you need:

~Cornstarch

~ Water

~ Something to paint with

~ Something to mix in

Optional: Food coloring

& of course, one wacky activity doer!

What to do:

~ Mix cornstarch and water in your “something to mix in” – it’s about equal parts but I suggest going light on the water, you can always add more. Mix and add – more water if it’s too thick, more cornstarch if it’s too thin, until you get to a paint-like consistency (or until you are just too excited to wait to paint, whichever comes first).

~ If you want, add in some food coloring. For those of you working on color theory, this is a nice time to see what happens when you mix red and yellow, etc. The food coloring is totally optional though, painting with white is cool and interesting too.

~ Paint and create away, WhyNotters! Let those creative juices flow and have fun! (Maybe even make Mom a “Happy mother’s day” sign on the steps… go wacky with it!).
